It may sound crazy but this is something that hospitals and emergency technicians have to deal with. Irmgard Hold from Phoenix, AZ mistakenly reached for crazy glue when she was actually looking for eye drops.

She is old, but claims that “I am not senile.” according to myfoxphoenix.com. The burning sensation soon followed and then Irmgard went to wash out her eye. Unfortunately her eye was glued shut. Hospital staff and paramedics helped to cut the glue substance away.

A scary situation like this can happen but most times its not intentional. Glue squirted out a bottle often times lands in someone’s eye. An article in a British journal recorded that of 14 people who came to the hospital for glue in their eyes, only two said it was cause they got the bottles confused.

Eyelids can get irritated when coming in contact with glue. For the most part, you’ll lose your eye lashes that will grow back and any infections or chemical burns on the cornea can be treated with antibiotics.

Lesson learned. Double check your eye drops before use.
